Concerts and Parties

Organize a concert or party with a political message.

Concert: Get friends or school bands to donate their time to a concert. Between sets of music or poetry readings give short talks about Democracy Matters and its mission. Co-sponsor with other groups like Environmentalists who also support activism and getting big money out of politics. (See Coalition Building Campus Raps.)Have information to give out and petitions to sign. Music, fun and politics are a great combination!!!! Other campuses have called their concerts “DemROCKracy” or “Amps Against Apathy”.

Party: Organize a party with music and games and invite other organizations to come. One campus called theirs “Ain’t No Party Like a Political Party.” Mix in political messages with the fun! (See Games & Booths & Quizzes.)
